Associate Membership – Waterside Assistance
Volunteer Marine Rescue Jacobs Well is a not-for-profit Community organisation, providing marine search and rescue, waterside assistance and medical services to the local northern Gold Coast and Logan area waterside communities. The local area public greatly support us via fundraising activities and associate membership fees. Without this support we would not be able to continue to provide our 24 hour / 7 days a week service.
As you may be aware, the Queensland Government has started a new fully funded “Marine Rescue Queensland MRQ” entity.
VMR Jacobs Well Assoc fully supports this initiative and understand that this will allow us to improve our service to the boating public. We are therefore likely to transition to this organization at some time this year and will not require paid membership from that point.
Although the timeline is yet to be finalized and transition is subject to a number of preconditions, VMR Jacobs Well does not believe it is appropriate to charge for full year Associate Memberships from 28th of September given our intent. We nevertheless appreciate your ongoing support and have reduced our membership fee proportionally to allow you to utilize our services until a transition to MRQ is concluded.
From 28th September ongoing will be: $22.00 for 3 months. If in 3 months we have not transitioned you will receive another renewal for a further 3 months.
Volunteer Marine Rescue Jacobs Well would like to acknowledge and thank all ongoing Associate members for your continued financial support which allows us to continue to provide this essential local marine and community service.
Volunteer Marine Rescue Jacobs Well Associate Membership covers you for breakdown assistance for all areas south of Potts Point (northern point of Macleay Island) to the North Arm of the Coomera River, and including the Logan, Albert and Pimpama Rivers as well as the Jumpinpin Bar.
Under the Terms and Conditions of our Extended Service Agreement with other Volunteer Marine Rescue Squadrons, our coverage extends from Bribie Island (to the North) to Southport and Point Danger (to the South).
Any charges for a service carried out by another VMR Squadron or Rescue Organisation would be at your own expense, unless it is in our area of operations and we were unable to assist, then we may reimburse expenses to an affiliated VMR Squadron with a prior consent.
We can tow your vessel from one safe harbour to another for maintenance or repair (not covered by the Associate Membership), please contact the base to discuss the job.
Please be aware we are not a commercial salvage business. We are here to help fellow boaties.
Our Charter, Insurance, Licence and Survey Regulations allow us to assist you on the water when in distress and there is an immediate danger to life or property. We can tow your vessel back to ‘safe harbour’ or in most cases your point of departure or launching that trip.
